Difficulty: Summiteer (Level 3)

China has changed its rules for civil service jobs. Now, people with three chronic diseases will not be stopped from applying. This change is seen as a big step forward by activists and legal groups in the fight against unfair job practices.

In China, it is hard to find jobs right now, and many qualified people are not getting civil service jobs because of health problems found during physical exams.

This problem is made worse because these strict health standards are also used in fields like education and technology, raising worries about unfair treatment at work.

Under the new rules, people with polycystic kidney disease can get civil service jobs if they have no kidney issues or high protein in their urine.

Those who carry the thalassaemia gene, which can lead to blood disorders, will no longer be automatically excluded if they have a mild or silent form of the disease. Also, people with Hashimoto’s disease can get these jobs.
