Difficulty: Summiteer (Level 3)
It might have been very risky for a predator to attack a healthy adult Brachiosaurus. This giant dinosaur weighed around 60,000kg and was part of a group called sauropods, which included the biggest land animals ever to live on Earth.
But new research shows that baby Brachiosaurus and other baby sauropods were often eaten by meat-eating dinosaurs 150 million years ago. Scientists used different kinds of evidence to understand the food chain in a Jurassic Period ecosystem.
Brachiosaurus was the biggest sauropod in its ecosystem. The longest one was probably Diplodocus.
But the baby animals came from eggs that were around 30cm. It took them many years to grow up. Studies showed that their parents did not help them, so they had to look after themselves.
