The Monumental Alebrijes Parade took place in Mexico City last month. Alebrijes are fantastical figures designed to ward off nightmares. These sculptures are usually painted in vivid colours and patterns.

Alebrijes were created by a famous indigenous Mexican artist, Pedro Linares, in the 1940s. He began making them based on a dream he had.
