Around New Year, we often like to sip a delicious hot drink while staying snug in our most comfy clothes. Lots of cafes will have hot drinks, but why not try making them at home? Ask an adult to help you out.

Hot chocolate is really important during the winter. It feels like a hug from the inside. Also, it's easy to change the taste by adding different flavours. This recipe makes 1 mug.
Recipe
Ingredients
- 200ml of milk or soy milk
- 75ml of heavy cream
- 2 teaspoons of sugar
- 50g dark chocolate
- 1-3 drops of peppermint extract
Directions
- Pour the milk and cream into a pan, and add the sugar.
- Chop the dark chocolate into small pieces, and add to the pan.
- Put the pan over a low heat and stir until everything melts.
- Pour carefully into a mug. Add the drops of peppermint extract, stir well and enjoy!

If you want a hot, sweet and spicy drink, you will love chai. But be warned, you might find this a bit strong, so you can use less ginger, cardamom, peppercorns and cloves if you need to. This recipe makes 4 cups.

Ingredients
- 2 tea bags of Darjeeling or Assam tea (or you can use normal black tea)
- 12 slices of fresh ginger
- 12 cardamom pods
- 1 teaspoon of black peppercorns
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 5 cloves
- 50g sugar
- 500ml milk
- 1 litre of water
Directions
- Put the tea bags, ginger, cardamom, peppercorns, cinnamon sticks and cloves in a pan, and pour in a litre of boiling water.
- Heat on a low heat for 10 minutes.
- Add the sugar and milk and heat for 10 minutes more, stirring often.
- Strain the chai into a jug that is safe for hot drinks
