Do you get pocket money from your parents or gifts from others? It feels great to have your own money. But have you ever spent it all in one go and later wished you had some left?
The secret to managing your money is remembering “3S”: spend, save and share. Think of your money like a delicious pizza. If you eat the whole pizza now, you have none left for later. But if you slice it up, you can enjoy some now, keep some for tomorrow and share a slice with a friend.
Everyone’s “money” pizza will look different. Maybe you need to save more for a new bike, or you want to share more because you love helping animals. Think about what matters to you when you divide your “pizza”.
The next time you get some money, remember “3S”: a little for now, a little for later and a little for others. You’ll be a money maestro in no time.
-
Spend: This is the fun part. This “slice” of your money is for things you want right now. Maybe you could buy a cool sticker, a tasty treat or a small toy. It is OK to spend some of your money and enjoy it.
-
Save: This “slice” is for your bigger dreams. Is there a special toy, game or book you want that costs more than what you have? By putting a bit of your money into a piggy bank or a savings jar, you can slowly save for something big. Saving money teaches you to be patient and work towards a goal.
-
Share: This “slice” is not for you – it’s for helping others. You could use it to buy a gift for someone or donate it to an animal shelter. Sharing your money helps make the world a kinder place.
Create your own ‘3S’ pizza
Label each pizza slice with “Spend”, “Save” and “Share”. In each slice, write what you will do with your money. What will you buy now? What are you saving up for? Who will you help?

Set your goals
-
Think of three money goals. How much do you want to spend, save and share? Write this amount below the money thermometers above.
-
Each time you put money into one of your goals, colour in a little bit of the matching thermometer.
-
When a thermometer is filled to the top, you have reached the goal, and it is time to spend, save or share your money.
