In 2021, Johnny Ho had a fever. He went to the North Lantau Hospital.
There, he saw the lengthy processes involved in the hospital’s work, like registering patients. This spurred him to invent an AI tool to automate this work and shorten waiting times.
“The AI model can prioritise treatment for people in need,” he says. The project won Gold at an AI contest for students.
It all began with Johnny’s love for Minecraft. In Primary Six, he started experimenting with visual effects in the popular game.
“Minecraft allowed me to learn a programming language to create mini-games,” he explains. “Gaming inspired me to explore technology further, and as a result, I developed my programming skills.”
