An 11-year-old girl from Bosnia is making traditional costumes for Barbie dolls.
Esma Gljiva is from the city of Sarajevo, and she started making her “Bosnian Barbie dolls” in June after seeing poor-quality dolls in a souvenir shop. “They were not properly dressed at all,” she said.
Esma learned about the different religions in Bosnia, and she makes sure to be correct when dressing her dolls in traditional Muslim, Christian Orthodox and Catholic clothes.
Esma gets orders for her dolls every day. She has sent them to many different countries, like Bulgaria, Norway and Britain.
She is also planning to make costumes for a Bosnian Ken doll.
