Difficulty: Challenger (Level 3)
It seemed like a long shot. A small Chinese company that started in 2023 with only 1 million yuan (HK$1.1 million) tried to compete with Elon Musk. The famous tech legend is the CEO of Tesla and is worth half a trillion US dollars.
But in less than two years, EngineAI Robotics, led by CEO Zhao Tongyang, built the T800.
This robot can kick like Bruce Lee with the strength of a small car. They even tested it on Zhao himself under the watchful eyes of engineers and scientists. That’s why when Musk’s Optimus robot recently “ran” a few steps, people in China just shrugged and laughed. They became even more doubtful when Optimus fell over during a live demo while trying to give someone a water bottle.
EngineAI launched its first model, the SA01, last year. Its T800 boasts 450 Newton metres of force, humanlike agility and a solid-state battery that allows it to run for up to five hours. The innovative machine will be ready for mass production by 2026.
