People wearing green shirts and colourful necklaces filled the streets of Boston, in the US state of Massachusetts, during the 119th annual St Patrick’s Day Parade last month. The parade also featured floats, marchers and bands playing the bagpipes.

Bostonians were the first people in North America to celebrate St Patrick’s Day. This tradition started with a parade back in 1737.
