It can be very frustrating when people don’t take our emotions seriously. Feeling down is very normal. People should be more open to talking about this.

If being “tough” means ignoring how you feel, that could be dangerous. Holding in your emotions can cause negative feelings to build up and hurt you.

Even if it doesn’t seem like you got helpful advice, it was right to share your feelings with others. It is important to find a way to express yourself, such as talking to others or writing down your thoughts.

It could help to search for people who can be more supportive. You can ask them to help you figure out what is causing you to feel down. Is there something that made you feel this way? Reaching out to teachers or school counsellors can also be useful.

Also, find time for activities that make you feel happy. Exercise can help to boost your mood, and hobbies can give you a new point of view.

If your low mood doesn’t seem to be going away, it could be a more serious problem. You should seek help from a healthcare professional.

Talk it out

  • Everyone has days when they feel down, and they might want someone to talk to.

  • How can you be a good listener to someone in need?
