A rare Bengal tiger cub was born at Cuba's National Zoo in Havana, zookeepers said on Friday,
The zoo has been trying for 20 years to breed these endangered felines.
The new cub has not yet been named. He is being cared for by the zookeepers, who say he is "frisky".
"The birth of the cub was a joy," says Maria Gutierrez, one of the care givers. "It was so small and we have been feeding it milk and caring for it in other ways."
"It is a very beautiful thing," says zoo vet Angel Cordero.
Thousands of Bengal tigers once roamed the jungles of Bangladesh, India and Nepal. But their numbers have gone down to about 2,500, wildlife experts say.
