"Go and pee on the rhubarb!" said Fabien Esculier's grandmother.
Fabien has never forgotten his grandmother's unusual method of gardening. In fact, it has inspired his career as an engineer.
Human pee contains nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium – the nutrients plants need to grow.
Now, as scientists look for ways to reduce our use of chemicals, and cut down on pollution, some of them are becoming interested in the potential of pee.
Farmers often use a lot of fertiliser chemicals which contain nitrogen. But the fertiliser causes both air pollution and water pollution.
If we could use the nitrogen from pee instead, we could save money while also reducing pollution. Scientists are working on it!
