I recommend the book When Stars Are Scattered. This book is a graphic novel based on a true story from one of the authors. It was a National Book Award Finalist in the United States.
This book follows the main character, Omar, and his brother, Hassan. They lost their parents at a young age. The two boys are stuck in a refugee camp and have to struggle through the difficulties of living there, such as hunger, lack of space in classrooms and bullies. They also hope to one day emigrate elsewhere.
This book tells us about the difficulties of being a refugee. If we have loving parents and a safe home, we should be thankful that we are so lucky.
I hope that anyone who has a roof over their head understands how fortunate they are. If you are interested in finding out more about life as a refugee, I highly recommend reading When Stars Are Scattered. It is a wonderful book that deserves more attention, especially from young readers.
