Constance Fok (Grade 5), DSC International School

What would I do if I could communicate with animals?

First, I would communicate with cats because they are my favourite animal. I would say, “Hi, can I be your friend and can you be my pet cat?” Then, because leopards are strong and brave, I will ask them, “Can you be my friend?”

After that, I would talk to other animals I like. I would ask what them what food they like, so I could give it to them. Then, I would play with them.

I think it would be great to communicate with animals to learn about their world and understand what they think of humans.

Scott Leung Ting-fu (aged 11), St Patrick’s School

After completing a course from Save the Children and SideBySide, I have learned three skills.

Emotional management involves recognising and regulating my feelings. When I am overwhelmed, I can take a deep breath, count to 10 and calm down. I even transformed my frustration into creativity.

I also learned to express my feelings. Once, I argued with my friend, and we were angry. But we communicated our feelings and apologised to each other.

Empathy helps us share others’ feelings. When I am annoyed by my parents, I try to understand that they just want to help me.

Jayden Fan Chun-ting (aged 9), Pooi To Primary School

When I was in Primary Two, I went to London with my mum and dad. We went to so many places. London people are nice, but London is very cold.

My school is fun. My favourite subject is maths because it can help you become a quick thinker.

My favourite animal is the turtle because they are funny.
