I recommend Journey to the Centre of the Earth by Jules Verne. In the book, Professor Lidenbrock and his nephew, Axel, discovered a piece of paper with many runes. After several days of inspection, they realised it was a message written by Arne Saknussemm, a famous explorer.

The message was about the path to the centre of the Earth. Realising this was their chance to become as renowned as Arne Saknussemm, they packed some supplies and took the first boat to Iceland.

Once there, Professor Lidenbrock hired a strong-looking man named Hans as their guide.

Once they hired him, they set off to the volcano, Snaefells. Once inside it, their path was wrought with danger. They suffered from starvation, cold, and so much more.

After discovering a new humanlike species, they built a raft to return to Earth by a volcanic eruption. Professor Lidenbrock, Axel and Hans hung on to the raft for dear life. After a few minutes, they fell onto a grassy plain land near a farm, where they ate nuts and berries.

As they entered their town, word soon spread about them returning from the Earth’s centre. Professor Lidenbrock grew very famous and was known worldwide.

After reading this novel, it taught us all a valuable lesson: we should never give up on our dreams nor tease people because of theirs.
