On November 2, our school organised an open day for primary school students and their parents.
More than 40 families participated in this event, and they all had a lovely time. The themes for the day were STEAM and extracurricular activities.
Participants created their own Formula One cars using origami with their parents and then raced it on an 18-metre-long track.
They paid particular attention to the car’s delicate alignment, which would affect the speed, and used markers and stickers to decorate the car to win the “Most Attractive Car Award”.
As a core member of the school’s Formula One team, I was responsible for checking their cars to see whether they met our requirements and were safe enough to race.
I found that the kids were extremely innovative and imaginative. The fastest car had a record-high speed of 1.3 seconds. Amazing, isn’t it?
In the end, not only were the winners excited, but everyone in this activity could also enjoy a sense of achievement through designing and racing their own cars.
We were also eager to show the visitors our after-school learning activities, such as taking care of reptiles, designing different useful and creative STEAM products and doing latte art.
We also demonstrated science activities, like learning about “rolling force” in physics lessons and assembling a robot in our design and technology class.
In addition, many parents praised the mouthwatering coffee prepared by our Cafe Team members!
