The BFG by Roald Dahl is an excellent book about a young girl named Sophie and her friendship with the Big Friendly Giant (BFG).
One night, Sophie sees the BFG as he blows dreams into children’s bedrooms. The giant takes her to Giant Country, where she learns that not all giants are friendly. Most of them are mean and eat humans.
The BFG, however, is different. He is gentle and kind. He loves to collect good dreams and share them with children.
Sophie and the BFG become close friends, and together, they devise a plan to stop the other giants from eating kids. They decide to ask the Queen of England for help.
Dahl’s writing is full of funny and imaginative language. He creates a world where giants drink “frothbugglers” and eat “snozzcumbers”. The words are unique and make you laugh. The story teaches important lessons about friendship, bravery and standing up for what is right.
Sophie is a brave character who shows that even a small girl can make a big difference. She helps the BFG face his fears and fight against the other giants.
The illustrations by Quentin Blake add charm to the story and make it more enjoyable. The BFG is a delightful read for all.
