My favourite book is called The Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell by Chris Colfer. It tells the tale of a pair of twins named Alex and Connor.

One day, their grandma gives them a book, called the Land of Stories, that she used to take with her around the world.

Alex keeps the book in her room. It keeps humming and glowing. She can’t sleep at night because of all the noise. She used to be her teacher’s best student, but since she got the book, she has been so tired that she falls asleep during class.

A few weeks later, Alex realises that her stationery has disappeared. She falls into the book, and Connor follows because he doesn’t want to lose his sister.

When they go into the book, they see all of Alex’s stationery. They also see some “Wanted” signs about Goldilocks posted to trees.

They finally realise they are in a fairytale land. It is beautiful, but they want to go home.

They meet a frog man called Froggy. He tells them that the only way to go home is to make a wish with a wishing spell.

In order to do this, they must collect a bunch of things, such as Cinderella’s glass slipper, Rapunzel’s hair, tears from a fairy, the troll and goblin crown and Sleeping Beauty’s spinning wheel. It is very dangerous.

This story tells us that we have to work hard for things that we want.
