Karlie Kong (aged 9), Kowloon Junior School

My favourite subjects in school are English and art.

I like English because I like creating cool stories. Some of my stories are inspired by picture prompts.

I think picture prompts make it easier to write stories because they give you an idea of what your characters will be like and what the setting will be.

I like art because it helps you express yourself. I like drawing and painting with watercolours. They are nice to work with since they have a really special effect that can’t be made with other types of paint.

I went to Ocean Park with my cousins. On the cable car, I saw a beautiful view of the calm ocean and the green mountains.

On one ride, we went into an eerie cave and couldn’t see anything. Suddenly, we went fast down the river. We also went on another roller coaster called the Arctic Blast. It was exhilarating.

My favourite animal was the spotted seal because they were very cute. I also liked the walruses because they were enormous.

Emma (aged 12), Heep Yunn School

I have always been fascinated by dolphins. Their intelligence and playful nature make them incredible creatures.

I remember a trip to the aquarium where I had the chance to watch a dolphin show. The trainers interacted with them so skilfully, and I was amazed at how the dolphins responded to their cues.

Just seeing them jump and spin brought so much joy!
