An Australian has made the fastest “sea-to-summit” climb of Mount Everest. It is the highest mountain on Earth. Oliver Foran, 27, reached the top in 50 days after he set off from India.
He started his journey at the beginning of April. He hoped to break the previous verified record of 67 days and raise money for mental health help.
The previous record was held by South Korean climber Kim Chang-ho. In 2013, Kim walked, kayaked the Ganges River and cycled to Nepal. Then, he trekked to base camp.
Foran posted a video from the summit on his Instagram account. In it, he said: “Just set a new sea-to-summit world record, 50 days, all for youth mental health and my mum.”
Foran cycled from India to Nepal. Then he trekked up to the base camp and eventually climbed up to the mountain’s icy peak.
