The Hong Kong airport has launched a free tour service. They hope to encourage transit passengers to visit attractions in Wong Tai Sin, Sham Shui Po and Tsim Sha Tsui.
Transit passengers are those who stop at an airport while on their way to their final destination.
Vivian Cheung Kar-fay is the Airport Authority CEO. She said that the new tour service was organised with the travel agency Trip.com.
The tours are designed for passengers with layovers of more than seven hours. Each tour can only take 20 people, and it lasts for four hours.
The tours include a “Heritage and Local Lifestyle Citywalk”. This option takes people to Wong Tai Sin Temple and the markets of Sham Shui Po.
There’s also the “Victoria and West Kowloon Waterfront Journey”, where people can enjoy the city’s harbour views.
The tour schedules match the most popular transit periods. They also include free round-trip transport and English-speaking guides. To join the tours, travellers must hold a valid visa or meet the entry requirements set by the Hong Kong government.
