Amanda Wang is the co-founder of the Chinese beverage chain Ningji Lemon Tea.

She visited the United States four times to research American tastes. Then, she started the drinks brand Bobobaba.

The Chinese tea company makes colourful drinks topped with fruit and tapioca pearls.

Chinese tech giants Tencent and ByteDance helped Wang grow her tea company. She is one of many tea entrepreneurs in the country trying to win over young coffee and matcha drinkers in the US.

Companies like Chagee, ChaHalo, Molly Tea and Auntea Jenny have been doing well in China recently. They are known for their fresh and new flavours.

In the past year, these tea brands have opened stores in the US or plan to expand there.

For example, Chagee plans to open a large flagship store in the heart of San Francisco next year. The company’s plans include a public campaign to promote tea among US consumers and to establish it as a new product category.
