A kangaroo named Chesney managed to escape from a petting zoo in the US by climbing a 2.5 metre fence. The kangaroo jumped because some stray dogs rushed to his enclosure and scared him, said his keeper, Debbie Marland.
Marland and her friends chased reports of sightings and even rented heat-seeking drones to find where the high-jumping adventurer might have gone.
Chesney was discovered under a tree in a wooded area. A group of searchers surrounded him, but Chesney outran them.
Marland returned to the area the next morning with Chesney’s favourite treats.
“I do believe he heard our comforting voices, he smelled the familiar smells of home, and it just made him feel safe,” said Marland’s friend.
