Venus: If I could only keep one thing from my home, I wouldn’t grab my phone or my book. Instead, I would rescue my childhood stuffed toy – a tragically ragged, one-eyed rabbit that has been my partner in crime since infancy. Whenever I see it, I feel safe and comfortable, as if I’m back at home. To anyone else, it may not look attractive. The fur is matted, the left ear is hanging by a thread and the cotton stuffing is definitely deflating. But to me, it is irreplaceable. This toy has been my silent therapist through every challenge I faced, from terrifying primary school maths exams to late-night deadline struggles and even the night before my stage performances. While other objects can be replaced with money, the comfort I find in its faded fabric cannot be bought anywhere else. It holds all of my childhood secrets and fears. Growing up can be stressful, but holding and hugging this rabbit serves as an instant reset button, bringing back a sense of total safety and happiness. We can always buy new furniture anywhere, but the rabbit represents a lifetime of loyalty that nothing else can replace. It is my ultimate source of comfort, my favourite and truly the best.

Jupiter: If I could keep only one thing from my home, it would be my Instax Mini camera. When I was nine years old, I won my school’s annual creative writing contest and received an HKTV mall voucher. After scrolling through hundreds of products, I chose the Instax Mini camera. At the time, it felt like just a new toy, but I never realised how important it would become in creating lasting memories. Since then, my camera has been with me through some of my favourite moments. It accompanied me when I visited my cousins in India to celebrate my grandfather’s 70th birthday, and it captured memories from my first trip to the United States. Each photo it prints is more than just an image; it reminds me of the love and laughter that made those moments special. Even today, I continue to use that camera. More than just a device, it has turned into a collection of my friendships and family memories. If I could keep only one thing from my home, it would undoubtedly be this camera. Even if I cannot hold on to old moments, I can always create new cherished memories filled with warmth and love.

Mars: If I could only save one item from my home, I would immediately grab my digital camera. While most people rely on smartphones for quick snapshots, I use my camera as a more intentional way to capture the world around me. This camera is incredibly special because my dad bought it when he was young, and passing it down to me inspired my favourite hobby: photography. This hobby allows me to explore the world as a passionate photographer. Practising photography has taught me patience and observation as I use my lens to freeze raw emotions and uncover hidden stories in everyday life in Hong Kong. My camera holds a visual archive of my life, including precious photos I have taken since I was small – candid smiles of my family and beautiful landscapes from our holidays. It captures high-quality photographs that hold irreplaceable emotional value, which must not be lost. By holding on to my camera, I ensure that my favourite memories are preserved. It serves as a bridge to my past, allowing me to look back at happy times. With this precious gift from my dad, I will continue to take beautiful pictures to capture wonderful memories of my own future journey.

Neptune: People often say that home is not just a place; it’s where your favourite people and memories are. I agree with that sentiment. If I had to choose just one item to keep if everything else in my home were to be discarded, I would choose either my favourite stuffed animal, Cow Cow, who has been with me for as long as I can remember, or my family picture wall, which holds some of my fondest memories. The picture wall showcases special occasions like birthdays and treasured childhood moments. It serves as a reminder that, despite the hustle and bustle of life, I can always find tranquillity with my family. On the other hand, Cow Cow is an inseparable part of me. I still recall the little secrets I would share with her at night and how her scent feels just right. I brought her along on every trip, even school outings. Much like Andy’s love for Woody in Toy Story, I have a deep affection for Cow Cow, and I could never bring myself to donate her. Our stories and adventures aren’t over yet. I believe that to live a full life, it’s essential to look forward. Even though the picture wall is irreplaceable, it wouldn’t accompany my family and me on new journeys. Without the wall, I would learn to cherish the time I spend with my family. Ultimately, I’ve decided that I want to experience all of this with Cow Cow, so the one thing I would choose to keep is her.
