Hong Kong’s Junior Police Call training camp is undergoing upgrades and incorporating innovative technologies to enhance trainees’ experience and training effectiveness.
Since its launch in 1974, the Junior Police Call has aimed to boost participants’ sense of responsibility, self-confidence and commitment to society. Its goal is to develop the city’s youth as the “future leaders and police fight-crime partners”.
Located in Pat Heung, the Youth Police Call Centre provides training in discipline, physical fitness, teamwork and leadership while promoting integrity and lawfulness among young people. Since its opening, it has trained more than 110,000 participants.
On Monday, the centre held the G Block Optimisation Project Launch Ceremony at its permanent activity centre in the New Territories.

The HK$19 million project, funded by the Innovation and Technology Commission and the Hong Kong Jockey Club, is set for completion in the second quarter of 2027.
Previously a fire school, G Block is a three-storey facility being transformed into a technology-driven training centre.
The ground floor will feature an esports zone, using motion-sensing technology for group training to build teamwork and leadership skills. The first floor will house a virtual policing workshop with virtual reality simulations for crime investigation, evidence collection and rescue operations to improve trainees’ communication and decision-making.
Meanwhile, the second floor will include an indoor shooting range with five 10-metre lanes meeting international standards, providing air rifle training and firearm safety education.
The centre began expanding its facilities after the Covid-19 pandemic. It is also building a new indoor rope and net training system, which is expected to open in the first quarter of this year.
In 2017, the Pat Heung Youth Police Call Centre was renovated and reopened under police operation. The centre offers nearly 200 accommodation spaces for trainees free of charge.
