Have you ever had a bubble tea start leaking from the lid? Or accidentally splashed your desk as you put a cup of coffee down? This week’s Word Up explores vocabulary you can use to describe liquid spills. Learn them, try them out and handle your next cafe catastrophe with ease.

7 words to describe the cold, from cool to bone-chilling

1. Drip

Meaning: to fall in small drops

Example: The tap continued to drip all night.

2. Trickle

Meaning: to flow in a small stream

Example: I saw a single tear trickle down her face.

3. Splash

Meaning: to cause liquid to strike or fall on something in irregular drops

4. Slosh

Meaning: to move messily or irregularly, often with a splashing sound

Example: I could hear the slosh of the bubble tea in my bag as I rushed to class.
