Barrier
In games: a shield or obstacle that prevents damage, movement or progress
In daily life: something that blocks progress or communication

Snowballing

Meta
In games: short for “metagame”, meaning the strategies, characters or builds that are the most effective for winning
In daily life: describes a film, book or artwork that shows awareness of itself or its genre
