This week’s question: If you could start a youth-led movement to change the world, what would its mission and name be? To take part, drop us a line via this form by 12pm on Wednesday, October 15.

Owen Cheung Yiu-ngo, 13, Christian Alliance SC Chan Memorial College: I would bring a survival knife. Not only can it be used for self-defence against predators that may lurk on the island, but it is also a sturdy tool. It can be used to cut through branches and logs to build a shelter, which is essential for survival. If you run out of food, you can use it to cut fruit from branches and to cut open animals and get the meat inside. It is the perfect survival item.

Leung King-man, 14, Pope Paul VI College: I would bring a photo of my family. If I were stranded on an island, helpless and ignorant, I hope this photo would give me the courage and hope to live. Although some people may think it is ridiculous, I understand that on an uninhabited island, willpower is the most important thing.

Chow Oi-ching, 15, Carmel Alison Lam Foundation Secondary School: I would bring a suitcase full of novels, comics and board games to the island. Since the effects of reading books and playing board games are comparable to using mobile phones, I could have fun and pass the time with them. In addition, the suitcase could serve as a chair or a bed for me to rest on. It would be even more comfortable if I could find something soft to cushion myself. Then I may truly enjoy my day stranded on an island.

Cherry Wong Dan, 15, Our Lady’s College: I would take my fishing rod. As I see it, this would be a good opportunity for me to explore nature instead of just being glued to the internet like I usually am. It would also give me a chance to slow down and enjoy a peaceful moment away from the usual distractions of everyday life.

Yiyi Zhang, 10, Holy Angels Canossian School: Excluding my phone, I’d take a windproof lighter. It could help me start a fire to keep wild animals away. I could also use the fire to send signals and attract rescuers. This lighter would be my best tool for both survival and getting help.

Mavis Tang Wing-yin, 17, Buddhist Tai Hung College: An astronomical telescope would help me enjoy the best stargazing spots on the island. No one would disturb me, and there would be no industrial noise or dazzling lights hiding the shine from the sky. I would love to feel the gentle breeze of nature.

Wong Tsz-yan, 14, TWGHs Li Ka Shing College: I would bring an instrument if I were stranded on an island for a day with no phone. Just imagine it: there would be no one to disturb you, allowing you to be yourself in complete comfort. You could enjoy playing music and singing along with nature – the sound of the wind and the calls of birds! That would be truly satisfying.

Chiquita Ng, 16, Pui Kiu College: I would like to bring my friend along with me. She could chat with me when I am bored, which could kill time. We could also venture into the unknown on the island together, explore and discover nature, or even catch special creatures. I’m sure I would have an unforgettable day on the island.

Cherina Tse Wing-nga, 13, Fung Kai Liu Man Shek Tong Secondary School: I would bring a pencil and a hardcover blank white notebook. The island would have beautiful scenery, and I would not want to forget the gorgeous view. Without my phone, I would be able to draw the image in the notebook and save it forever.

Cheng Tsz-yue, 13, Hong Kong Tang King Po College: I would bring my camera. Being free from human activities and pollution, the ecosystem of the island must be blooming. Thus, it would be my one and only chance to see the original form of Mother Nature. I would record the lives flourishing there to show others the beauty of our world and the consequences of our actions.
