This week’s question: You’re stranded on an island for a day with food and water. Excluding your phone, what item would you take? To take part, drop us a line via this form by 12pm on Wednesday, October 8.

Chan Cheuk-ying, 16, Shatin Tsung Tsin Secondary School: Since my study tour to New Zealand, I have been eager to return. New Zealand offers mesmerising natural views – crystal-clear blue waters and lush green landscapes. Not only are the sights breathtaking, but the lifestyle there is also very appealing. The slower pace of life allowed me to relax and truly enjoy my surroundings. I hope to go back someday, even if it’s just for a brief visit.

Angelica Leung Man-ka, 15, Pui Kiu College: If I could visit any country in the world for one day, it would be North Korea. When we think of North Korea, we often picture a place where access to the internet is restricted. This unique aspect is part of the reason I want to travel there. I want to focus on the stunning views, learn about their distinct culture and communicate with the locals without the distractions of social media platforms like Instagram, YouTube or Facebook during the trip. It would surely be an unforgettable experience.

Ying Lai-yan, 17, PLK Mrs Ma Kam Ming Cheung Fook Sien College: I want to go to Turkey. I often imagine myself in a hot-air balloon that crashes, and I frequently think about how I would position myself to fall safely into the grass. I would like to know if I could be lucky enough to land in another hot air balloon. I want to try it, even though I often dream of opening my parachute and soaring through the sky. Nevertheless, my spirit of exploration drives me to go. I hope to still participate in the top 10 sessions after this trip.

Chow Chun-yi, 14, Carmel Alison Lam Foundation Secondary School: I plan to visit Ukraine because I want to experience what war feels like in 2025. I aim to understand the challenges people face there in staying alive and maintaining their lives. I believe that once I gain insight into the realities of war, I will be more motivated to promote peace and help keep everyone safe.

Lai Chun-hoi, 14, TWGHs Li Ka Shing College: If I had the opportunity, I would love to visit Egypt. I have always been curious about its history, especially after learning about the curse of King Tutankhamun’s tomb online and the architecture of the pyramids. I am eager to unravel the spooky mysteries and discover more conventional treasures there, although some superstitions may have been spread intentionally by others.

Hoi Laam-hui, 16, Baptist Lui Ming Choi Secondary School: Iceland is a destination on my bucket list because I want to see the Northern Lights. I enjoy admiring stunning scenery in cold weather and having fun with snowball fights during my leisure time. I also plan to visit the world-renowned volcanoes in Iceland to gain a deeper understanding of their geological features beyond what I have learned in my geography textbook. Additionally, I would like to participate in exciting boat trips on the glaciers.

Tao Sum-yurt, 14, STFA Tam Pak Yu College: I would like to visit Switzerland if I could travel to any country in the world for one day. Switzerland is known for its beautiful scenery, and I am particularly excited to try its special dishes featuring cheese and meat. Some representative dishes include fondue, which is bread dipped in melted cheese; raclette, where melted cheese is shaved onto potatoes; and rosti, a crispy pancake made from fried potatoes.

Chan Chun-yan, 14, STFA Tam Pak Yu College: I would like to visit America because it is one of my favourite countries. I want to enjoy the largest Coke at McDonald’s, take a photo of the Statue of Liberty and, of course, experience the feeling of freedom in the most free country in the world.

Ng Ka-yan, 16, Fanling Rhenish Church Secondary School: I will spend a day in Malta, as it is situated in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. I want to explore the local scenery, take a carriage ride through the streets, try some cactus dishes, and see the blue holes and rocks that have been eroded by the waves. I also plan to visit the original Popeye Village.

Cloris Lam Hoi-ching, 15, Our Lady’s College: I would love to visit Scotland because it has a slower pace of life compared to the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong, making it an ideal place to relieve stress. Additionally, it features some iconic filming locations from Harry Potter, which greatly fascinates me. The scenery is truly delicate and beautiful. If I ever get the chance, I would cherish the opportunity to relax and soak in the atmosphere there.
