Sesame Street will soon be available on the streaming service Netflix. It will still be available on the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), a public TV channel in the United States.
Sesame Workshop, the non-profit organisation that produces Sesame Street, announced last month that iconic characters like Elmo, Cookie Monster, and Abby Cadabby will move to Netflix. Netflix will also show the completely new 56th season of Sesame Street, as well as 90 hours of old episodes. Old episodes will be aired all over the world.
Sesame Street started in 1969. It is a popular educational show. Sesame Workshop said that new episodes will be available on PBS channels and PBS KIDS online platforms in the US on the same day they appear on Netflix.
Netflix will have the exclusive right to show new episodes first worldwide. They can also create video games based on Sesame Street.
