It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, although an admittedly warmer one than usual. But that just means the weather’s perfect to spend time outside. Here are the five best things to do in Hong Kong on Christmas Day, from gliding at an ice-skating rink to visiting markets, fairs and the return of much-anticipated displays.

AIA Carnival

Perhaps the city’s most popular annual winter event, AIA Carnival, is returning to the Central Harbourfront with plenty of rides, thrills, games and prizes. Map out a day to spend at the main theme park, packed with food stalls and fairground fun, and set aside a few hours for The Winter World Circus, which promises a fresh line-up of family-friendly entertainment. Tickets start at $95 on an off-peak day, $100 on a standard day and $105 on a peak day.

Hours: 12pm to 10pm (off-peak days) and 11am to 11pm (standard and peak days, including Christmas Day)
Where: Central Harbourfront Event Space, 9 Lung Wo Road, Central

Christmas Town at WestK

Also returning this year is the West Kowloon Cultural District’s WestK Christmas Town, with more than 60 Christmas trees, a 12-metre-tall centrepiece, festive installations and even a dedicated treehouse. It will feature local and international food, market stalls and music performances from pop singers, bands, schools and other community groups. Check the schedule out ahead of time to make sure you do not miss out on your favourite entertainment act.

Hours: 2pm to 9pm (standard days) and 2pm to 11pm (peak days, including Christmas Day)
Where: Harbourside East Lawn, Art Park, West Kowloon Cultural District, Tsim Sha Tsui

Check out a Christmas market

Discovery Bay Winter Wonderland Christmas Market 2025

Head to Lantau for an enchanting Italian-style Christmas market, only from December 25 to 28. Discovery Bay is well known for its weekend markets, and this seasonal edition promises even more stalls of holiday-inspired handmade goods, coffee and sweet treats. Select proceeds will go to the Tai Po relief support. You can also enjoy a free ride if you grab the 11.30am ferry departure from Central Pier 3.

Hours: December 25 to 28, 2025, 12pm to 10pm
Where: DB Plaza Open Piazza, 1 Discovery Bay Road, Discovery Bay

Citygate Outlets x Pinkoi Ho~Ho~Holiday Christmas Market

Citygate Outlets is partnering with Pinkoi, one of Asia’s leading online design marketplaces, for a special festive fair. It runs from December 24 to 26.

Glide away at an ice-skating rink

If you’re looking for an icy adventure this Christmas, head to one of Hong Kong’s many indoor skating rinks, slap on a pair of ice skates and do your best twirl. We’ve rounded up a few options; be sure to check their websites for information such as prices, opening hours and ticket availability, as these are subject to change.

Cityplaza Ice Palace is a great place for beginners and it uses an environmentally friendly refrigerant to create its slick surface.

If you want a view while you’re choreographing your Winter Olympics routine, then head to Festival Walk. It’s the largest – and probably busiest – rink in Hong Kong, in no small part because of its gorgeous views of Lion Rock Mountain.

Meanwhile, Lohas Rink is the first venue of its kind in Hong Kong to incorporate a natural, non-toxic, non-flammable CO2 chiller plant system. According to the rink’s website, it uses a low-GWP (Global Warming Potential) refrigerant to help minimise its effecton climate change.
