Brazilian man tries to hide on top of an electricity pole

A criminal fleeing the police in the Brazilian town of Itabira found an unusual escape route last week. He climbed to the top of an electric pole and stayed there for nearly 24 hours!

Police had arrived to arrest the man on Friday when he made a run for it, climbing onto the roof of his house and then scaling a 10-metre electricity pole.

The man stayed up the pole for nearly 24 hours, from Friday until Saturday afternoon, refusing to come down.

He eventually gave himself up and was taken to the hospital for medical checks before being arrested by the police.

The electric company said it had to cut power to 380 houses in the area.
