An adult male walrus can grow to weigh 1.5 tons! Even a calf (a baby walrus) can weigh 75kg, which is the same as an adult human! A 600kg walrus in northern Europe is enjoying some summer sunbathing on boats. What's the problem? Well, some of the boats are just too small for the big girl!

Nicknamed Freya, the young female walrus has caused cute, clumsy chaos in Britain, the Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden.

Now, the marine mammal has swum to Norway, where she accidentally sunk a boat in Oslofjord, a bay in the southeast of the country. Nobody was hurt.

Freya is named after the Norse goddess of love and beauty. She has many fans, but she also has enemies after she has sunk and damaged their boats.

Some videos posted online show Freya climbing onto small boats, basking in the sun, struggling to support her weight, and sometimes flipping the boats over. When she is not dozing on boats, other videos show her chasing ducks and swans.

The Norwegian government's Fishing Department has asked people to leave the walrus alone.

"She is a wild animal of around 600kg, who is not always as clumsy as you might think," they said. "She is doing well, feeding, resting and seems to be in good condition."

"We are watching Freya to gain knowledge about her eating and resting patterns," they said. "The best thing is if she moves away from areas with a lot of people. In any case, we are ready if she causes problems elsewhere."

Lots of people are interested in Freya's antics. The Verdens Gang newspaper put up a live video of the walrus on its website.

The Fishing Department say that they are thinking about moving Freya somewhere else, for her own safety.

"We have not finished working out the details yet," they said.

Five things to know about

1. A walrus is a large marine mammal that lives in the sea. "Marine" means anything to do with the ocean.

2. Walruses have long tusks and whiskers. A walrus can sleep for about 19 hours a day.

3. Walruses usually live in the Arctic Circle, which is the area around the North Pole. They have lots of fat (called "blubber") under their skin. This blubber helps to keep them warm in the cold, icy water.

4. A walrus can use its 90cm tusks to help it climb out of the water, or to break breathing holes in the ice.

5. Freya is actually a small walrus.
