Last month, a dozen dogs attended mass at a Mexico City cathedral for the annual blessing of animals, a Catholic tradition.
On this day, Mexican Catholic congregations and priests welcome pups, cats, and the occasional parrot on the feast day of St Anthony the Abbot, the patron saint of animals.
Some pet owners dressed their pets in jumpers or scarves while they prayed for them.
Karla Flores considers her dog, Lana, a true blessing. Lana was abandoned as a puppy and found in a box with her mother and siblings. Flores rescued them and decided to keep Lana and her mother.
Lana has been feeling down and unwell recently, so Flores wanted to bring some joy back into her life.
Reverend José Antonio Carballo spoke to the pets and their owners during the service. After mass, he sprinkled holy water on both the people and their pets.
