Difficulty: Summiteer (Level 3)
Pope Leo XIV declared a 15-year-old computer whiz the Catholic Church’s first millennial saint. This designation provides the next generation of Catholics with a relatable role model who used technology to spread the faith, earning the nickname “God’s Influencer”.
Acutis was born in 1991 in London to a wealthy Catholic family. They moved to Milan shortly after his birth, where he had a typical childhood but became more religiously devoted as he grew up.
Acutis was particularly interested in computer science and read university-level books on programming even as a youngster. He earned the nickname “God’s Influencer” for creating a multilingual website that documents Eucharistic miracles recognised by the church. He did this when most website development was done by professionals.
In October 2006, at just 15 years old, Acutis got sick with acute leukaemia and died within days.
