The Democratic Republic of Congo is the second-largest country in Africa. It is facing an outbreak of the Ebola virus.
To avoid misinformation spreading, volunteers are going door-to-door in the area, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) said last month.
The Ebola strain spreading is called the Bundibugyo strain. It has no approved vaccine or treatment.
The outbreak was declared an emergency of international concern by the World Health Organization. The IFRC said it is working with communities in Mongbwalu, at the heart of the outbreak. Volunteers are explaining how people can protect themselves and seek care.
Gabriela Arenas is the Regional Operations Coordinator for the IFRC Africa Region. She said that there have been mixed reactions to the virus. Some people believe the outbreak is real, while others are suspicious.
