Traditional costumed dancers known as Los Chinelos perform as they take part in a procession called Ninopan in Mexico. The tradition is one of the many developed after the Spanish conquest when native and catholic rites blended. These dancers represent in a satirical way the Europeans - who banned peasants to attend carnival festivities - and their fancy style.
