Fans packed Mexico City as Fifa’s largest World Cup got underway. This year, Mexico is co-hosting the tournament with the United States and Canada.
It has become the first country to host or co-host the World Cup three times. It also had the honour of hosting the tournament’s opening match, where it defeated South Africa in a 2-0 win at Estadio Azteca.
