Two 96-year-old childhood friends, who were born on the same day, have married after spending more than 60 years apart!

The couple were reunited after a chance meeting at a dinner party in 2019 when the man accidentally  ran into his future wife's brother. He got back in touch with her.

Although they had been out of touch for more than six decades, the couple decided to spend their last years together, so they got married. They now live together in a home in Shanghai.

They were born just hours apart in 1926, and they were friends growing up because their fathers ran a photo studio together in Shandong in eastern China.

They gradually lost touch with each other after the woman's family moved to another province.

It was not until the man bumped into the woman's brother at a dinner party in Shanghai that they would see each other again.

The man asked for the woman's address from her brother, and later went to visit her. But he says: "She didn't recognise me at first."

"We were both very happy to see each other. It's fate for us to meet each other again. Unexpected fate."

"It's not like young people's love between us. It's caring for each other and looking after each other," says the woman.

The couple have been flooded with good wishes after their story was reported.

"This is a good ending for a life. They are so lucky," one person says.
