It’s hard to avoid comparing ourselves to others. Trying so hard and not seeing the results you want must be frustrating. Here are a few things you can do:

  1. Accept your emotions: Frustration and disappointment are feelings that everyone goes through, especially when facing failure. Talk to a friend or your parents about what you’re going through. They might have a similar experience to share that can make you feel less alone.

  2. Focus on the goal: It might seem like success is only based on grades, but a love for learning is just as important. When you find yourself frustrated with your progress, try to focus on what you enjoy. Then, consider what you can change about your study habits to help you reach your goals in school.

  3. Reach out to your friend: Learning to be happy for your friend’s success will also help you feel better. You can also ask your friend for study tips.

Remember, your teachers are also there to support you and help you improve your grades – don’t hesitate to ask for help. It’s not easy to keep trying even when you feel like you’ve failed, but this skill, called resilience, is a big part of growing up.

Talk it out

  • Resilience is the ability to keep going even when you face challenges.

  • Can you think of a time when you showed resilience?
