Rare albino panda is seen in China

A rare "albino" giant panda has been seen again in the wild in southwest China. It is thought to be the only one of its kind.

Camera footage of the all-white animal was released by the Wolong National Nature Reserve in Sichuan province.

The panda is believed to be about five or six years old, and does not seem to be suffering from any health problems.

The distinctive animal was first spotted by the nature reserve's cameras in April 2019, at about 2,000 metres above sea level. The nature reserve released the first images of the animal in May that year, showing its white fur and claws, and red eyes.

This is the first albino giant panda seen in the wild, says Li Sheng, a scientist at Peking University.
