Archaeologists say they have discovered three ancient merchant ships deep under the South China Sea.
The wrecks were found in the ocean between China's southern coastline and the Paracel Islands.
The team of scientists and engineers used new technology.
Pottery, porcelain, purple-clay ware, copper coins and wooden planks were among more than 60 artefacts detected and retrieved from depths of up to 3,000 metres.
Using new sonar technology, the scientists' ships can investigate 100 sq km each day, detecting objects just a metre long.
They hope to find signs of a treasure ship from the 1400s, part of Admiral Cheng Ho's famous fleet.
