Difficulty: Explorer (Level 1)

Every person in the world is different, and that means you are, too. No one else looks exactly like you, likes the same things as you, or has your unique mix of great personality traits. Let’s have fun and find out what makes you special with these two activities.

My unique profile

Fingerprint tracker

Did you know that even identical twins have different fingerprints? This shows that nature never makes the same pattern twice – kind of like how everyone has their own unique personality.

Materials

  • an ink stamp pad (washable ink)

  • plain white paper

  • a magnifying glass (optional)

  • wet wipes or soap

Instructions

  1. Invite your parents, siblings or friends to be your fingerprint volunteers.

  2. Have each of them gently press their thumb onto the ink stamp pad. Make sure their thumb is evenly covered in ink.

  3. Press their inked thumb firmly down onto white paper. Lift it straight up carefully so the ink does not smudge. Write their name directly under the print.

  4. Clean their thumb immediately with a wet wipe.

  5. Lastly, place your own thumbprint right next to theirs.

  6. Look closely at the prints. Notice how the tiny loops, whorls, curves and arch shapes look completely different for every single person.
