Letters from readers: playing the trumpet, making friends, and enjoying after-school snacks

Maureen Lee Sing-ching (aged 7), Good Hope Primary School cum Kindergarten

Last year, I started learning how to play the trumpet. At the beginning, I couldn’t even play a note! But after a year of lessons, I have learned many songs.

At my first audition, I was so nervous, but I stayed calm and finished the song just like I had practised. I was shocked when the judges praised me. Later, I was informed that I would be in the Intermediate Wind Band!

I hope to continue to playing the trumpet and never give up.

Ng Tsz-wing (aged 12), Pui Kiu College

Friends are important, and everyone has their opinion on the qualities they look for in a friend.

For me, I value having a friend with a good sense of humour because they can bring joy and make shared experiences more enjoyable. Moreover, trustworthiness and loyalty are crucial. If someone tells my secrets to other people and does not stay faithfully with me, then I would say this is not a friend.

Eric Wong Pok-lam (aged 13), Ho Yu College and Primary School (Sponsored by Sik Sik Yuen)

After a tiring day at school, indulging in an after-school snack is a delightful treat.

For many students, a classic choice is a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. It is a simple and tasty combination of sweet and savoury. Others may opt for crisps, which offer a satisfying crunch and a variety of flavours. Some prefer a sweet treat like a chocolate chip cookie.

Regardless of the snack, these treats offer a moment of relaxation and provide a well-deserved reward after a day of learning.
