Last summer, I visited the world-famous Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the US and attended the MIT AI and Education Summit. Let me share this amazing experience with you!
On the first morning in Boston, my dad woke me up at 6am for a run near the MIT campus along the Charles River. I usually don’t run, so it was pretty depressing initially, but I changed my mind when I saw the beautiful sunrise and orange sky. It was worth it.
I wasn’t the only one from Hong Kong attending the summit. Eighteen teachers from the city were also there, including my secondary school principal, Miss Ho!
The speakers discussed things like innovation, technology, and AI in education at the conference. I was bored at first, but then, I participated in a fun, interesting workshop using Lego bricks to design a car.
I also saw an AI-powered robot dog, which you could control using a mobile app developed by the MIT App Inventor.
Additionally, I joined a hackathon competition with a few teachers. I was the final presenter of our project, which we had to complete within 24 hours. I was a bit scared but presented confidently. It was such a memorable experience!
I also went sightseeing, including visiting the Great Dome, MIT Media Lab and the MIT Computer Science and AI Lab in the Stata Center.
Visiting Boston and MIT was an unforgettable experience for me. I learned a lot, and it was an enriching conference. I hope to revisit this amazing city and explore it more in the near future!
