I knew something was wrong as soon as I woke up. I just didn’t feel right. Then, I looked into the mirror. What was that? Feathers! It was true. I had turned into a turkey two days before Thanksgiving.

Horror seeped through me. My family was going to eat me!

“Calm down, or else you are going to end up in a tummy!” I told myself.

After I finally managed to calm down, I figured out what happened. Yesterday, I asked mum to turn me into a turkey as a joke. So, did that mean I could ask her to turn me back into who I was?

But wait ... if I did rush out, she would see me as food. I couldn’t let that happen.

“Think,” I told myself. “I got it.”

I could stick a note on myself and show it to my mum. I hoped this idea would work, or I would get chopped, stabbed, sliced and fried! My blood ran cold.

Since I was a turkey, my handwriting was terrible – I hoped my mum understood.

I was lucky that I did not need to dodge knives and pots. Why? Because the next day, I thankfully turned back into a human. Phew!
