Alfie Tang Yu-chih (aged 8), Spanish School of Hong Kong
During the Easter holiday, I went to Japan. My favourite place was Inuyama Castle.
My favourite parts were the design of the castle and the sword marks left from fighting. The stairs were built at different heights to trip the enemy.
The second floor was the armoury and the lord’s room. Behind the tatami mats in the lord’s room, there was a hidden room where ninjas and samurai could hide.
Japanese castles are so incredible because of their great defensive design. Inuyama Castle is recognised as one of the five national treasure castles of Japan.

Gracie Yu Nga-ching (aged 7), Kowloon Junior School

My favourite lesson is literacy because I really like to write. I love art because I love to create stuff.
During the holidays, I like to go to Japan because I enjoy playing the claw machine and winning lots of toys. I also like to go to Thailand because I like mangoes.
My favourite animals are bunnies because they are very cute. My favourite fruits are grapes, strawberries, pineapple, and mangoes.

Hylia Chan (aged 12), St Paul’s Co-educational College Primary School
Every morning, I wake up at 5am to do one thing: write. While everyone else in my house is still dreaming, I prefer to create fantasies that can last forever.
My first experience with writing was in K1, when I was 3 years old. Even though the writing was childish and had plenty of mistakes, my father was very proud and he encouraged me to write more.
Why don’t you try writing? Perhaps it will grow on you until it becomes a hobby. We can all contribute to the future of writing in Hong Kong.
