Yuji Kawai Tao (aged 6), Peak School

My hobby is catching insects and animals. I caught 33 living things last year – for example, frogs, a mantis, a tadpole, a gecko, dragonflies, stick insects, fish and squid.

Next time, I want to catch an octopus and a lizard. Do you know what lizards eat? They eat vegetables, fruits, insects and small animals. Do you like animals and insects like I do?

I love Chinese New Year because I get to spend time with my family and play with my cousins and my brother. Once we are tired of playing, we sit down together to eat dumplings and salad. I also receive red packets filled with money, which are given to bring good luck.

Catherine’s Puppies is an animal shelter that helps dogs find homes.

The owner, Catherine, has many shops around Hong Kong, but the one I went to is in Sai Kung. The adoption centre was not that big, but was very nice and cosy. There were lots of newborn puppies.

One was a few months old and had already been vaccinated, but others hadn’t yet. Catherine said we should not touch the newborn puppies because they had not been vaccinated, and we could be carrying germs that don’t affect humans but do affect dogs.

It was too bad because they were all so cute! I had a lot of fun in the puppy shelter, and I learned a lot of new things.
