The Wild Robot is about a robot called ROZZUM unit 7134, or Roz for short, who becomes stranded on a remote wild island after a hurricane destroys her boat.
The boat carried 500 robots in crates, of which 495 sank while five floated away.
But of the five, only one survived. Otters come and open the box to discover the robot, who comes to life.
From that moment on, Roz has to fight bears and RECO robots. She even adopts an orphaned baby goose.
In the next book, The Wild Robot Escapes, Roz must escape from a farm. Her son, Brightbill, helps her get out, but the RECOs and coyotes are hunting her. Roz is injured, but she is repaired and becomes a whole new robot.
In the third book, The Wild Robot Protects, Roz must protect the ocean from a thing called a “Poison Tide”. She goes on an epic exploration with lots of sea creatures to stop the Poison Tide’s dangerous, cloudy waters from polluting the island and killing animals.
