If you are planning to open a restaurant, here’s a helpful tip to reduce food waste.

Consider putting up a sign in front of your establishment that says, “If you finish all your food with no leftovers, you can deduct HK$10 from your bill!”

Additionally, you could create another sign stating, “If you don’t finish your food, you will be charged an extra HK$5.”

This approach can benefit both you and your guests, encouraging everyone to avoid food waste.

Implement a pricing strategy that rewards customers who finish their meals while penalising those who leave leftovers to reduce food waste, suggests Ng Sze-wing. Photo: Shutterstock

Divina Mulani (aged 11), Kowloon Junior School

I am of Indian origin and was born in Hong Kong. Some of my favourite hobbies include art, dancing and talking with my friends and family.

My favourite activity is creating art pieces. My favourite colours are pink, blue, white and light yellow. Some of my friends are Saanvi, Mishka and Nairra, but my best friend is Prisha.

The extracurricular classes I take include maths, swimming, Chinese and dance. My favourite foods are pizza, hotpot and lentils, and my favourite drinks are boba and other cold, refreshing beverages. A few things I am skilled at are finger knitting and dancing.

Bella Cai Shiyao (aged 9), CPC Yao Dao Primary School

My favourite subject is Chinese because it is both easy and interesting.

Reading is my biggest hobby. It lets me travel to different worlds and learn new things.

My favourite birds are penguins. They look super cute as they waddle on the ice. I often watch documentary videos about penguins.

My best friend is Ellie, and she lives in Shanwei. We live very far apart, so I can only see her when I go back to the countryside. We always have fun together.
